New Control platform first step towards Industry 4.0
Bewo has developed a new control platform based on Siemens hardware S7-1500 in a Profinet environment. We have chosen to decentralize as many field components as possible. This has led to less field cabling and central electrical cabinets, which reduces the chance of disturbances. Furthermore we replaced all relays by solid state modules that have a longer lifetime. By using Ethernet we can reach all field components quickly and efficiently.
This allows us to solve most of the disturbances from a distance. This significantly reduces downtime and service costs. From now on all Sigma and Single cutting systems including all downstream units will be equipped with this new control platform.
Simultaneously with these modifications, the HMI has been updated. With the aid of help files, which can be called up from any screen, a quick explanation about the functionality of the various features will be given. The errors diagnostics have also been renewed, which means that customers are also better able to correct any faults themselves. With this, Bewo meets a long-cherished wish of our customers to make the machines simpler in operation.
This makes this control platform suitable for the further design of Industry 4.0.
